Leadership Team is the set of core 40-50 members of Grey Matters that run the show. From funding to social media to production to content creation, these positions require the most commitment. The vast majority of leadership members have dedicated duties outside of leadership, and this is encouraged.
One individual may hold any number of positions on leadership team, so long as they are capable of completing the duties involved. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply to as many positions as they are interested in holding. Preferences regarding the number and type of positions can be communicated in cover letter(s) or interview(s). Once a leadership team member is granted a position, they will not be removed from it unless they fail to perform the required duties or wish to step down.

Content Officer
Manages non-article content production. This includes content brainstorming, brand imaging, and multi-media content production. This role oversees the creative wing of the Social Media Team, especially TikTok and YouTube.

Diversity Officer
Our goal in creating the Grey Matters Journal Diversity Officer position is to aid our mission though having dedicated individuals in diversity work develop initiatives and reach out to URM populace to provide neuroscience education to these communities within Washington State. The diversity officer will have roles in the following areas:
- Piloting new initiatives aimed at involving groups with the least access to neuroscience in Grey Matters processes, in collaboration with the promotion team
- Brainstorm innovative ideas about how Grey Matters can be more diverse, equitable, and inclusive, and be a strong, unerring advocate for those ideas
- Work with our Small Events Coordinator (SEC) to establish collaborative RSO events with RSOs from URM communities.

Marketing Officer
Works with the Marketing manager to increase Grey Matters’ visibility. Depending on how the work is split up, the marketing officer is responsible for all email communications, as well as working on the quarterly newsletter to relay Grey Matters’ operations and events. Aids in coordinating with other committees - diversity/outreach, social media, and more - to streamline communication. The marketing officer has a lot of room to come up with new ideas to better advertise Grey Matters’ articles and spread the love for neuroscience to the UW community.

Outreach Officer
Coordinates internally with outreach team members on event attendance, transit, and materials to ensure events have all of the resources they need, including:
- Taking interest for events
- Sending final sign ups
- Reading all emails (but not responding)
- Keeping event calendar up to date
- Maintaining inventory
